Topper’s Pizza is expanding again.

After remaining at 37 locations for over a year, the chain is poised for growth, opening six pizzerias in just under six months, including four in Northern Ontario and one in the GTA.

This includes a relocated pizzeria on Barrydowne Road and a 2,800-square-foot call centre on Westmount Avenue.

The doors of the new Sudbury location opened Oct. 17, the same day as a new Thunder Bay franchise location, which experienced company-wide record sales in its first week.

“We took the last year to really establish important groundwork that got us to this point,” said Karen Trottola, director of marketing and communications, in a release. “We surveyed customers, spent time to find the right franchise owners and took another look at our branding.”

During the last quarter of 2016, the company will have opened new locations in Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Vaughan, Espanola and Kirkland Lake, as well as have new ownership of the pizzerias in Ottawa.

The Topper’s Pizza Customer Care Centre, which was originally in the back of the Lasalle Boulevard pizzeria, is moving to its own location to accommodate further growth.

“The new customer care centre provides the opportunity to respond to the future growth of the Topper's brand,” said Todd Sattler, director of franchise development. “Even the pizzeria is in a larger location. It is a bigger space, newer venue and equipped with new technology. To enhance the customer experience, we’ve added a dough room that provides an interactive experience with the customer.”

A couple new things customers can expect this year include a newly designed pizza box as well as dough room windows at select locations, which give customers a behind-the-scenes look at the process behind the company's trademark Authentic ItalianBread Crust.

Founded in 1982, Topper’s began franchising in 1992 and has plans for rapid expansion across Ontario and Canada.

The business is built on a four-generation Toppazzini family legacy and strives to give back to local communities, while partnering with SickKids Foundation.
